Simplifying EU trading

SME and larger traders are struggling with post-Brexit paperwork, which is adding cost and time pressures and risks alienating European customers, but PSP Worldwide Logistics offer an easy solution.

Since Brexit, the UK is considered as a third country and transactions with the EU are no longer intra-community, but considered as imports and exports, which means that VAT and duties need to be paid in the country of import, creating a trade barrier for many exporters.

The  Federation of Small Business (FSB) Customs Clearance report found that SMEs do not have internal resources that understand complex post-Brexit paperwork, with over a third saying high intermediary fees were posing a challenge to international trade because they increase their supply chain costs.

The research also revealed that four in ten SMEs do not have the expertise required to handle customs declarations, while over half said they have outsourced this function to help free up their time for other tasks.

FSB policy chair Tina McKenzie said: “Unlike big corporates, most small firms don’t have the specialised resources needed to deal with complex customs procedures, so they’re dependent on intermediaries.

Our customs experts simplify importing from and exporting to the EU, with straightforward HMRC compliance and a range of options to support your exporting business, from our standard T form service for cargo movements, across single and multiple borders, to fiscal representation and ‘Importer of record’ to take the declaration burden away from your EU customer.

While some EU importers are happy to arrange clearance, others will not want to, which is why we have created a range of options that allow you to complete transactions with EU customers, simply and seamlessly and even as if it were a domestic transaction.

The options are varied and can be adapted to suit specific transactions and customer relationships, which is why our experts take the time to understand you and your needs, so that only the best regime is selected.
